TuffX glass brings sparkle to a new Swarovski shopfront

Date: 12 February 2016

Swarovski is renowned the world over for its glittering crystal jewellery. With such a powerful reputation to uphold, it is important that every element of its brand stands up to scrutiny.

So when a new shop was planned for The Mall in Blackburn, every element of its design was meticulously considered.Particularly important was the shopfront.A stunning expanse of glass was specified to showcase the shop’s sparkling products and encourage shoppers to enter.

TuffX Processed Glass, manufacturer of specialist, toughened safety glass, was selected to supply the glass that was needed. The technical team at the company specified the use of Pilkington Optiwhite™ low iron float glass to give the shop the wow factor it needed.

Because it’s a low iron float glass, Pilkington Optiwhite™ has a very high light transmission and is practically colourless, so for projects where transparency and purity of colour is desirable such as the Swarovski shopfront, it’s the perfect solution.

In total TuffX manufactured 20m2 of 12mm toughened Pilkington Optiwhite™ for the Swarovski shopfront. All edges were polished and drilled and notched to suit patch fittings to create a visually sophisticated finish and enable easy fitting once on site.

Graham Price at TuffX commented, “We were delighted to be asked to supply the glass for the Swarovski contract and are very proud of the results. The purity of the glass is emphasised by the lights inside and makes the shopfront very bright and attention grabbing for passers by.”

TuffX Processed Glass has been manufacturing specialist toughened safety glass from its Merseyside headquarters for over 20 years. In that time it has become the “go to” name for anyone working on high profile, complex or technically demanding glazing projects. And as its work on the Swarovski project shows, TuffX’s ability to deliver outstanding solutions to meet the complex requirements is second to none.
