Emhart Glass: Series sets new standard in container inspection

It is called Veritas. the simple truth in inspection. This fall, the new series of inspection machines from Emhart Glass will set a new standard for container inspection.

More than 40 years ago, the Powers Dual Head Gager was at the forefront of glass container inspection. Now, at the dawn of the century, the Veritas im and Veritas ib are set to revolutionize the container inspection industry again. The im and ib modules are the first in a new series of inspection systems from Emhart Glass that are designed to operate independently or as a single, fully integrated inspection system.

The Veritas im is a servo-driven rotary inspection machine that uses an innovative patented, three-segment, quick-change starwheel, as well as other servo-driven mechanisms to ensure the smooth infeed and outfeed of containers. Plug/ring gauging and Fluidic Finish Selector (FFS)/height gauging also are mounted to servo-driven assemblies. The Veritas im includes six inspection stations and performs the following inspections at speeds of up to 320 bottles per minute (bpm):

Plug/ring gauging (standard)
Check detection (up to three stations, standard)
Dip/Saddle (FFS) gauging (standard)
Height gauging (optional)
Mold number reading (standard)
Optical wall thickness inspection (optional)
The Veritas ib is a servo-driven belt handler that transports containers through a series of state-of-the-art vision inspections including:

Base inspection (standard)
Sealing surface inspection (standard)
Vision mold number reading of dot codes, peanut codes, and seven-segment alphanumeric codes (optional)
Base stress inspection (optional)
Vision dip/saddle inspection (optional)
The Veritas ib is designed to provide inspection at speeds of up to 800 bpm.

Both Veritas modules feature an intuitive touchscreen graphical operator interface that simplifies machine setup and operation. Both reduce job change time and provide easy access to, and recall of, inspection and setup data.

Using advanced optics, sensors, servo mechanisms, and flexible networking solutions, the Veritas concept offers container inspection solutions that establish a new performance benchmark.
