Glaverbel glass at the 2004 Culture Forum in Barcelona
|
Until 26th September, Barcelona will be hosting the Forum 2004, a major international show offering members of the public, of all walks of life and faiths, a wide range of entertaining and thought provoking cultural events .
Headline events at the Forum will take place in the purpose-built Forum Building, the most emblematic part of the whole architectural complex, which has 5,000 m2 of exhibition space and an auditorium capable of holding 3,200 people. This is where the main debates of the Forum will be held , making it the key meeting place and venue for exchange of ideas throughout the Forum.
The design for the Forum is characterised by light, the 'light of dialogue between cultures', showcasing the venue where the city meets the sea. This relationship is reflected in a blue façade covered in a rough material with recesses leading to sweeping glass bays affording magnificent views of the Mediterranean Sea.
Bearing in mind the thematic and architectural requirements of the Forum 2004, which embraced the criteria of sustainable development and energy efficiency, Swiss architects Jacques Herzog and Pierre de Meuron (the designers and winners of the 2001 Pritzker Prize) selected Glaverbel's Stopsol Supersilver Dark Blue for this unique and demanding project.
Stopsol Supersilver Dark Blue provides a high level of solar control and reduces glare, whilst at the same time giving the façade a unique look and a harmonious feel.
