New Norton Abrasives Selection Guide for Industrial Grinding Wheel Applications; Helps Abrasive Users Select Wheels for Precision Forming and Finishing Operations

Selecting the right abrasive product for a new application from the 6,000 stock and 250,000 non stock products made by Norton can be an intimidating task, even for expert grinders. The new Norton Abrasive Selection Guide is a handy reference booklet. The booklet has been created to help industrial users of grinding wheels pick the right abrasive wheel for their operation.

The new guide covers both conventional vitrified bonded wheels made with abrasives like aluminum oxide and superabrasive wheels made with diamond and CBN abrasives. Applications covered in the guide include surface, cylindrical, centerless, internal and tool resharpening.

Operators will also find the information on surface finishing helpful in determining the abrasive grit size to choose for the finish they are looking to achieve on materials such as high-speed steel, carbide, ceramics and other materials. To help operators, once a wheel has been selected, the guide includes wheel dressing tips, safe operating guidelines and troubleshooting tips for both wet and dry grinding applications.
