Eastman Chemical Company (NYSE:EMN) will participate in what has become the largest international glass trade show — Glasstec 2014 — running October 21–24 in Düsseldorf, Germany.

Eastman’s exhibit booth will be in Hall 11-A56 at the Messe Düsseldorf and will feature interactive displays and show-stopping photography.  Eastman will present its latest product glazing technologies for architectural and automotive applications, which align naturally with the trade show’s motto “Intelligent Glass.”

There will be 1,175 exhibitors from 54 countries at this year’s Glasstec with visitor attendance expected to reach more than 42,000 from all over the world. Following are some of the products visitors can expect to see at the Eastman Booth.

Expanded Saflex® acoustic product portfolio

Saflex Q series is an advanced acoustic interlayer that allows laminators to produce glass laminated with enhanced acoustical properties compared to laminates made with standard PVB interlayer. The expanded acoustic product portfolio offers two new product offerings for architectural applications.

Unlimited design options with Saflex® DG structural PVB

Saflex DG structural PVB is designed specifically for applications requiring increased interlayer rigidity and high glass adhesion, such as exposed edge laminates of floors, stairs, balconies, canopies, point glazing systems, clip systems, captured systems, and curtain walls, as well as sloped and overhead glazing. With Saflex DG structural PVB, laminates can sustain higher uniform loads with the same glass thickness or reduce the glass thickness and still achieve the same loading. Look for dynamic combinations of Saflex DG structural PVB with Vanceva® interlayers at the Eastman booth.Parallel to the start of this year’s trade show, Eastman is sponsoring the "Engineered Transparency" conference, which will take place Tuesday and Wednesday, October 21–22 at Booth C26 Hall 11 at the Congress Center Düsseldorf CCD Süd/South. Saflex DG structural PVB will be highlighted as the topic and a presentation on Spannglassbridge by Michael Engelmann, Dipl.-Ing.

Advantages of Saflex® SG solar interlayer

Saflex SG solar interlayer uses a proprietary IR absorbing technology that offers significant solar heat gain advantages over monolithic glass and clear monolithic glass laminates made with standard clear PVB interlayer. In addition, Saflex SG solar interlayer maintains a high level of visible light transmittance to improve daylighting.

Advancements in Saflex® Q series HUD interlayer

Saflex introduces a wedge-shaped Saflex interlayer for the most advanced Head-up Display (HUD). The Saflex Q series HUD interlayer eliminates “ghosting” to provide the highest quality projected image onto the windshield while offering the advanced benefits of acoustic PVB. This product will have an interactive exhibit at the Eastman booth.

Showcase for Vanceva® World of Color Awards™ winners

In addition to product exhibits, the Eastman booth will display enlarged photographs of this year’s winners of Vanceva® World of Color Awards™. This international competition pays tribute to architects and designers who have demonstrated innovative and liberal use of Eastman’s Vanceva color interlayers for laminated glass in their work. Two winners and four honorable mentions were recognized for their creative applications.Winners will collect their awards at the Eastman booth.
