Date: 2 October 2014

Groundbreaking Windows Provide a Thermal Ventilation Option for Curtain Wall with High Thermal Performance.

Underscoring its commitment to launching higher level thermal products to the market, Kawneer Company, Inc., an Alcoa business and the leading manufacturer of architectural aluminum products and systems for commercial construction, introduces its new GLASSvent™ UT (Ultra Thermal) Windows.Featuring an innovative, patent-pending design, GLASSvent™ UT Windows have a visually concealed vent designed for seamless integration with the framing system to create a complete, advanced thermal solution for commercial construction. With best-in-class thermal performance, GLASSvent™ UT Windows are the ideal solution for architects who want to provide fresh-air ventilation without decreasing the overall thermal rating of the façade.

Minimal Sightline, Maximum Impact

The exceptional thermal performance of GLASSvent™ UT Windows exceeds the thermal standards of many high performing framing systems. Engineered for seamless integration with the 1600UT System™1 Curtain Wall, GLASSvent™ UT Windows can also be inserted into other Kawneer captured curtain wall and front set storefront framing systems.

GLASSvent™ UT Windows are engineered to meet or exceed the minimum requirements for the architectural window performance class, including life cycle testing – the highest level attainable. The windows have been rigorously tested to both AAMA and CSA standards for air, water, structural, thermal and condensation performance. For superior sound and enhanced thermal benefits, both 1" (25.4 mm) and 1-3/4" (44.5mm) insulating glass options are available. Additionally, greater thermal efficiency makes the windows ideal for buildings seeking Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certification with the U.S. Green Building Council.

Flexibility and Fabrication

Helping architects achieve the desired streamlined appearance, the innovative, patent-pending design of GLASSvent™ UT Windows provide a sleek ventilation alternative without aluminum sightline build up on the exterior of the building. The visually frameless, vents are available as a project-out or outswing casement window. Aside from a smooth aesthetic, GLASSvent™ UT Windows also deliver a convenient means for architects to ventilate with fresh air, which has been shown to improve indoor air quality, as well as improve occupant comfort, well-being and productivity. Attractive, stainless steel, four-bar hinges provide positive control for trouble-free operation. Durable cast white bronze locking hardware delivers strength and security, and integral frame-mounted insect screens ensure building occupant comfort.

GLASSvent™ UT Windows are available with optional factory glazing by Kawneer or shop glazing by the window installer, offering flexibility in timing and labor.
