Pleotint, LLC, announced that its Suntuitive glass has received a 2014 Crystal Achievement Award in the category of “Most Innovative Glazing Technology.

It is a great honor to receive this award,” said Jamie Selby, sales and marketing coordinator of Pleotint. “There are a number of products from different areas of the glass industry that are worthy of this acknowledgement. It means a lot to us that a panel of our peers views Suntuitive glass as the most innovative glazing technology of 2014. Moreover, the real ‘win’ is in the recognition for the dynamic glass industry, as we all work toward the future of glazing.”

Suntuitive glass provides a light-gray base color that offers unrivaled color neutrality and compatibility with glass tints. Because of its ability to naturally adapt to direct sunlight, the self-tinting technology optimizes indoor comfort, views, and daylighting, while blocking heat generated from sunlight, glare, and ultraviolet light without obtrusive window shades or blinds.

When paired with low-e glass in an insulating window, Suntuitive glass can produce visible light transmittance as high as 60 percent in a clear state, solar heat gain coefficients as low as 0.11 in a darkened state, and reduce heating-, cooling-, and lighting-related energy costs.

Unlike other dynamic glazing systems, Suntuitive glass requires no electrical or mechanical intervention, eliminating threats of failure caused by faulty wiring, poor electrical connections, broken circuits, or temperamental computer systems that require continual maintenance.

Award winners were selected by three panels of judges, representing a cross-section of the window and door industry. Judges include previous winners and a broad mix of executives, consultants, and personnel involved in product development, marketing, production, sales, and distribution.

“The 2014 Crystal Achievement Award winners are a great example of the creative and solutions-oriented nature of the window and door industry, which continues to evolve to meet stringent energy codes, satisfy discriminating homeowners, and educate demanding customers,” said Jenni Chase, editorial director of Window & Door magazine.
