Investment in new vehicles and fitting centre refit mark 20 percent growth

Date: 23 July 2014

National Windscreens is delighted to announce a 20% increase in business in the Midlands region over the past two years-fuelling the requirement for new vans and a revamp of its Nottingham fitting centre.

The UK's largest independently owned automotive glazing specialist has ordered 34 new Ford Transit vans, due to be distributed between 14 regional fitting centres from September 2014.

All of the new vans will be fitted with the latest equipment including speed limiters set at 70mph, which aim to reduce both fuel costs and van rectification. The new vans join the region’s existing fleet which includes a number of Transit and Transit Connects as Regional Operations Director, Mark Payne, explains, “We have used Transit vans for a number of years and have always been really pleased with their performance. As a business that relies heavily on its mobile service, having our own efficient, reliable fleet is imperative.”

The Ford Transits also ensure National Windscreens’ mobile glazing technicians in the Midlands benefit from a number of features designed to keep them safe and assist driving, including a Euro NCAP certified Lane Keeping Alert, Electronic Brake-force Distribution, Hill Launch Assist and Brake Traction Control System.

Mark continues, “The safety of our technicians is paramount and we also need to ensure that they can access our customers’ vehicles wherever they are – whether that’s down a narrow track, up a steep hill or on a motorway service station car park.”

The new vans will also ensure the region is able to meet its growing customer demand in line with National Windscreens’ industry leading ‘same day/next day’ time to serve target. Investment in operations has recently included a refit of the Nottingham fitting centre to help lower the building’s running costs and improve the overall customer experience. To achieve this, the centre has had new windows installed, a new drive way and a new car park – securing cheaper running costs with better window insulation and a larger area for customers to leave their vehicles prior to windscreen repair and/or replacement.

National Windscreens Director, Adrian Miller, comments, “The Nottingham centre is one of our leading fitting centres within the East Midlands region – we wanted to maximise its potential to boost productivity for the benefit of our customers. The car park now offers our customers a secure place to leave their vehicles prior to fitting jobs, allowing them to drop the vehicle off and collect at a time convenient to them.”

Mark concludes, “Our business has continued to grow and this trend has allowed us to invest in both new vehicles and fitting centre refurbishments to ensure we continue to offer our customers a first rate service which will facilitate further business growth.”
