Supplying Hundai: County home to 2 of company's 23 suppliers

The new $1 billion Hyundai automative assembly plant in Montgomery may be nearly 100 miles from Talladega County, but it is having an economic impact locally.
Two of the 23 suppliers for the plant are located in the county.
Teksid Aluminum Components in Sylacauga will make engine components for the Santa Fe and Sonata for Hyundai.
PPG Glass in Talladega will supply all the glass for the Sonata that is being built at the Montgomery plant.
Hyundai Motor Company, Korea's largest automotive manufacturer, is building its first assembly and manufacturing plant in the United States in Montgomery. Production is scheduled to begin in 2005, creating approximately 2,000 plant jobs in Montgomery and the surrounding area. The facility is being built on 1,600 acres, and is expected to produce 300,000 vehicles per year at maximum capacity.
The Sonata is set to be produced in March 2005 in Montgomery, while the Santa Fee will be produced on Hyundai's second assembly line in early 2006.
