Emirates Glass bags five local contracts to supply 68,000 square metres of its EmiCool product

The Al Quoz-based producer is not only making major forays into highly competitive international markets, but is continuing to consolidate its position on the home turf by bagging major contracts from prestigious clients.

'Our single-largest order is from Emaar Properties' on-going Dubai Marina project. We have been contracted to supply 19,000 square metres of EmiCool to this prestigious project,' said an obviously pleased Jerry Dowling, General Manager of Emirates Glass.

He explained that Emirates Glass has finished dressing up three of the complex's towers. 'We are now working on two more Dubai Marina towers and expect to finish work by March of next year,' Dowling said.

Green Community
The Emirates Glass General Manager said the glass producer has won two separate contracts from Engineering Aluminium and Multiforms, to supply a combined 19,000 square metres of EmiCool to the celebrated Green Community project in Dubai.

'We will supply 11,000 square metres to Multiform and 8,000 square metres to EA for their respective projects at Dubai Investments promoted Green Community,' Dowling said.

21st Century
He said the fourth project for which the company has been contracted, has been signed with Alabbar Aluminium for 21st Century Tower project. Its architect is the respected firm of WS Atkins.

'We supplied 16,000 square metres of our top-of-the-line EmiCool glass to dress the residential-cum-commercial tower, which is Dubai's latest addition to the growing line of skyscrapers,' Dowling said.

The Gate
Recently, the company announced that it has won a contract to supply 10,000 square metres of EmiCool NN glass to the world-class 'The Gate' project that is being developed as the key structure at the Dubai International Financial Centre. Prestigious architectural firm of Gensler has designed it. The Gate will house, among other things, the DIFC offices and the proposed regional stocks exchange.

'The five recent wins in Dubai are for a combined supply of 68,000 square metres of top quality glass,' said the Emirates Glass General Manager.

'However, the contracts were not easy to win. This may be our home turf, but it is more open than most other markets. The laissez faire or free market policy in the UAE offers absolutely no protection against the best or the worst in the world,' Dowling said.

'To have won these prestigious projects on the difficult platform of combining the strength of our product quality and price competitiveness, is a major triumph for us. This is an extremely difficult and fine balance to achieve, that could only be maintained with the trust and support of our clients' Dowling pointed out.

Especially Suited
He said EmiCool won because of its superior quality. The product has been tested by TNO and has proven to exceed other products by more established and larger producers. 'It is especially suited for the local market where glass can be the weakest link and the biggest source of heat gain into an air conditioned steel-and-glass building in the Gulf,' Dowling said.

'Our EmiCool provides the optimal balance between requirements to keep the heat out while at the same time providing enough indoor light and aesthetic appearances. The highly efficient EmiCool range also provides a good night view by reducing indoor reflection and helps save on electricity,' added the Emirates Glass General Manager.
