Bullet proof glass saved us

A SINN Fein councillor has said that bullet-proof glass saved his family from possible death in a gun attack on their west Belfast home.
Two bullets were fired at Paul Butler's house in Lenadoon at 10 o'clock last night, striking the window of the living room.
Mr Butler said the bullets failed to penetrate the room where his partner and young son and daughter were sitting.
It was the latest in a series of attacks on the Lisburn councillor.
"This has come on the back of Sinn Fein's success in the Assembly election and I think there are people who are determined to kill people in Sinn Fein," he said.
"They came here with no regard for my family, they could have killed my son or daughter."
A PSNI spokesman said: "A number of shots were fired at the front window of a house in Horn Drive. There were no injuries."
There were also reports today that the west Belfast home of Freddie Scappaticci, the man alleged to be the secret agent Stakeknife, was the target of a gun attack.
A local newspaper said that shots were fired at his house in Andersonstown an hour after the attack on Mr Butler's home.
A PSNI spokesman said: "Police are investigating reports of shots being fired in the Riverdale area."
Following the attack on Mr Butler's home, police sealed off the area around the property while they carried out an investigation.
Mr Butler said he had just left the house when his partner phoned him to say there had been an attack.
"I immediately came back and saw the shot marks in the window. It's bullet-proof glass and they didn't get through but you can see the marks," he said.
In August the same house was petrol bombed and graffiti has also been daubed in the area. Mr Butler said last Valentine's Day he received a bullet through the post.
