Tamglass received 100th order for the world´s best selling windscreen bending furnace ESU Ecomax
|
One of the main products sold to the automotive glass industry by Tamglass is the ESU, worlds best selling windscreen bending furnace. The one hundredth machine is being manufactured at the Tamglass factory in Tampere, Finland for delivery. Altogether Tamglass has delivered almost two hundred windscreen bending furnaces.
The increasing size of glass surfaces used in vehicles together with growing production volumes contribute the growth in the automotive glass industry in general. Also the shapes of automotive glazings are getting more complex and new technology creating them is needed. More than half of all after-sales deliveries of windscreens in the world have already been bent with Tamglass technology. Nowadays an increasing number of Tamglass customers are producing OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) windscreens using an ESU.
EcoMax is a serial bending furnace in which a glass pair to be laminated later is bent into a desired shape according to a model-specific heating program. Furnace capacity varies according to the customers requirements and can if necessary rise to 90 windscreens per hour. One competitive asset of the EcoMax furnace is a unique heat recovery system, which allows the heat of cooling glass to be used in the preheating of glass, thus saving a considerable amount of energy.
The latest development step in the ESU EcoMax furnace is the introduction of forced bending into the process. This enables increasingly more difficult glass models to be bent into the correct shape with better reproduction accuracy than gravity bending. Windscreens bent using ESU technology can be seen, for example, in Peugeot makes of car.
The name of the present version of the ESU, the EcoMax, communicates the machines economy and efficiency. The ESU was developed in the 1980s to meet the then market demand and it has been updated over the years in accordance with customers changing needs. The latest models are the Optishapes, which have been designed particularly for the needs of OE glass manufacturers.
