Press Release on the 15th International Exhibition for Glass Products, Manufacturing, Processing and Finishing Technology MIR STEKLA 2013

The main Russian national event for the glass industry is the Mir Stekla International Exhibition for Glass Products, Manufacturing, Processing and Finishing Technology.

It is a joint project of Expocentre ZAO and the Russian Union of Architects.   

The 15th edition of the event will run from June 17 to 20, 2013 in Pavilions No.1 and Forum of Expocentre Fairgrounds, Moscow. 

Mir Stekla is the largest in Russia, the CIS and Eastern Europe glass industry show. It has successfully maintained its reputation of the most recognized platform for exchange of experience and ideas in the industry of glass production and application.

This year’s edition of Mir Stekla is anniversary. Its slogan is “Mir Stekla. 15 Years Inspire for Success!”

Labels of UFI – the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry, RUEF – the Russian Union of Exhibitions and Fairs, and the auspices of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry show the event’s high international status, its relevance and importance for development of the Russian and world’s glass markets.

President of the Russian Union of Architects Andrey Bokov addressed the participants and visitors to Mir Stekla’2013 and noted that  thanks to its large size, popularity and international recognition, the Mir Stekla international exhibitions helped not only to improve competitiveness of Russian glass products and adopt the best foreign practices, state-of-the-art technologies, innovations, advanced equipment for glass production and processing, but also to maintain a fruitful dialogue between architecture and construction experts and the glass business.

The exhibition contributes to the revival of the best traditions of the Russian glass-making, promotes new technology and state-of-the-art equipment for glass making and processing on the Russian market.

The annual Mir Stekla international exhibition is unrivaled in Russia in the scope of topics, number of participants, occupied space and variety of exhibited products. This event is a comprehensive showcase of all segments of the Russian thriving glass industry.

This year 280 companies from 24 countries occupy 5,774 net sq m of Pavilions No.1 and Forum to showcase their achievements, new designs and solutions.

Foreign exhibitors include such well known companies as AGC, BOHLE, BOTTERO, BRIDGESTONE, BISTRONICS, DECORGLASS, EMHART GLASS, ERMI 77, HEGLA, FOSBEL, ITALCARRELLI, LANDGLASS, KERAGLASS, SISECAM, ZIPPE. A newcomer is WALL COLMONOY (Great Britain).

Germany and Italy have their national pavilions at the exhibition.

About 70 Russian companies have announced their participation in the exhibition. They include KAMI, Gomelsteklo, Grodno Glass Works, Vitrazhnuy Tekhnologii, DIGL-Design, Salavat-steklo, Steklotsentr, UTA, and others.

Leading international manufacturers showcase the latest glass making technologies, glass processing equipment and technologies, glass products, accessory equipment for the glass industry, test equipment and software, art and decorative glass, as well as research and developments.

A separate exposition of art and decorative glass shows new original ideas and the latest trends in design, architectural appearance, interior decoration and glassware.

Pavilion No. 1 will accommodate state-of-the-art equipment, tools and technologies for glass production and processing.

The exhibition as usual will include workshops and seminars, as well as presentations of products, innovations and know-how. 

On June 17, VladVneshService holds a seminar on trends and state of the Russian glass market, growth points of the glass industry. Heads of the company and industry experts present reports about the market of flat glass, glass production technologies, import and export of flat glass, market of glass containers, geographic reach of glass production, forecast of industry development, market of glass sand, etc. 

The second exhibition day will feature events devoted to foam glass as the material of the 21st century. Reports will cover the progress of the nascent industry of foam glass in Russia and the CIS, examine the essence and targeted steps taken to develop and introduce specific technologies and production facilities.

On June 19, the event programme will include a seminar devoted to the 125th anniversary of the birth of Professor Isaak Kitaygorodskiy, Head of the Department of Chemical Technology of Glass and Ceramics of the Mendeleev University of Chemical Technology of Russia. Participants will talk about unique characteristics of glass for aerospace engineering, enhancement of glass strength, contemporary technology and production of float glass, new approach to description of glass structure and relaxation, and new functional silicate materials and coatings. Those who knew Professor Kitaygorodskiy will share their memories of him.  

Since 2011 the Mir Stekla exhibitions has featured exhibits of the annual Glass in Architecture competition established by the Russian Union of Architects and actively supported by Expocentre.   

Results of the 3rd edition of the Glass in Architecture competition for the best Russian architectural workshops are to be announced during Mir Stekla. There also will be held a traditional award ceremony for participants in the competition.

As usual international competitions in nominations ‘For High Consumer Qualities of Goods’ and ‘For Successful Promotion of Quality Goods’ will involve a lot of companies. The competitions are organized by Expocentre, the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and ANO Soyuzexpertiza. An award ceremony will conclude the event.
