The GGF Seminars to Help You Comply with CPR and CE Marking

Date: 22 March 2013

The Glass and Glazing Federation (GGF) is running a series of seminar workshops to assist GGF Members and companies with their journey to show compliance with the Construction Products Regulation (CPR) and CE Mark their products.

These events will case study how manufacturers have tackled the CE marking challenge; the complication with CE marking is that there are numerous routes for compliance and these seminars aim to overcome that problem.Who should attend these events? Any GGF Member or non-member company that manufacturers a product covered by a harmonised European Standard – particularly glass processors, Insulating Glass Unit Manufacturers and Window and Door fabricators should send a technical manager/person to these events, to find out what needs to be done to comply and to clarify any questions about this incoming legislation.  The ultimate aim of the seminars is to ensure companies comply with the Construction Products Regulation and operating legally from 1st July 2013 when CE Marking becomes mandatory.  The GGF also would like installers who source their units and frames separately to come along as the Seminars will show a cost effective solution for most installers to ensure they meet the requirements. How to CE Mark Your Product? The GGF Guide to Compliance with the CPR and CE Marking Seminars Tuesday, 9 April 2013, Morley Room, Chancellors Hotel and Conference Centre, Manchester, close to Manchester University 10.00 – 12.30             Glass Processing 14.00 – 16.30             Insulating Glass Unit Manufacture  Thursday 11 April 2013, Cedars Meeting Room, University of Reading, Berkshire  10.00 – 12.30             Glass Processing 14.00 – 16.30             Insulating Glass Unit Manufacture Giles Willson, GGF Deputy Chief Executive and Director of Technical Affairs advises; “These seminars are of vital importance not only to our Members but also for our industry. The new legislation comes into force from 1st July 2013.  Companies who manufacture a product covered by a harmonised European Standard will need to make a Declaration of Performance and CE Mark their products when it becomes law. Failure to comply could result in a prosecution and if found guilty, the companies face a fine and/or a potential custodial sentence. Prosecutions for other Directives have resulted in fines of £5K per offence and 6 months jail for the company directors. So this new legislation it has to be taken seriously.”
