First & first

Date: 19 December 2012

In the first week of November we were awarded two firsts: our first Dubai design project and our first European project.

While we carried out a number of third party checking reviews for under construction Dubai projects since Koltay Facades’ 2011 start, the Pharmax project with TNQ Architects is our first Dubai project where we are involved from schematic design stage, working with the architects.Being a Dubai company, we are very happy to support local projects. The project features a sophisticated translucent facade, and our role is to translate the architect’s vision of a dynamic glow box with silhouettes of people and goods passing behind to reality. We have started looking at possible facades materials and within-budget solutions. More about the project here.

Our other new project is located in Cyprus, designed by Zaha Hadid Architects. Engaged by the architect, we review the architectural details, produce additional ones, carry out pre-liminary engineering, discuss the performance expectations and prepare specifications for custom-patterned curved glazing, vertical and horizontal point fixed systems and supporting stainless steel structures.
