Registration is Open for the 2012 Fall Conference

Registration is open for the AAMA Fall Conference, to be held in Santa Ana Pueblo (Albuquerque), NM, October 14-17. AAMA members can register online by September 21 to receive a $50 discount. The conference will feature updates on committees and pertinent industry topics, as well as a special presentation from keynote speaker Thom Singer on the importance of networking and the creation of long-term business relationships.

Committee Updates

During a special session at the Fall Conference, the Fiberglass Material Council will present the AIA course, Fiberglass for Fenestration. The course details the performance characteristics of fiberglass, the pultrusion process, the manufacturing process and industry standards, as well as case studies of fiberglass window applications.

A presentation will be given during the Regulatory Affairs Committee meeting that discusses key issues of interest at the national level, including proposed legislation to restore the “Opt-Out” provision in EPA’s LRRP rule, revised ENERGY STAR® Version 6.0 criteria, LEED® v4 revisions, as well as the revolution of the California and EPA formaldehyde standards and updates on Department of Commerce anti-dumping investigations and tariff actions.

The Certification Policy Committee will report on the verification procedure for third-party and manufacturer painting and laminating of profiles and revisions to the Component Verification Program. Revisions to procedures for extending product certification will be discussed in a member only session.

Additionally, the Code Action Committee will review public comments on code change proposals to the 2015 International Building Code. Comments of most significant interest to the fenestration industry will be presented during the International Code Council (Group A) Final Action Hearings October 21-28 in Portland, OR.

Industry Organizations Updates
During the conference, AAMA staff will provide important activity updates associated with ASHRAE, ASTM, IGMA and NFRC. These updates will focus on those organizations’ activities that are of interest to the AAMA membership.

Speakers
Also during the Fall Conference, Thom Singer will present “The Conference Catalyst” program, which will teach conference attendees how to cultivate successful business relationships. In addition to his keynote, Singer will give short presentations throughout the conference, focusing on the importance of networking, relationship building and staying connected through social media.

Additional conference speakers will discuss topics such as environmental marketing and the FTC, as well as updates on the vinyl industry. A video presentation of tests performed on fenestration products for blast, ballistics and forced entry will be shown during an Aluminum Material Council special session.
