Solar energy glass (TCO glass) technology passed in the National Appraisal of Scientific and Technological Achievements

China Building Materials Federation recently held a project and new product appraisal meeting for the "Transparent Conductive Film glass used in thin film solar cell with complete set of technology & equipment and engineering application" programme jointly conducted by China Glass Holdings Ltd ("China Glass" or "the Group" ) ( Stock Code:3300) and Zhejiang University. China Glass self-owned patent project achievements "Transparent Conductive Film glass used in thin film solar cell with complete set of technology & equipment and engineering application"  passed in the national appraisal of scientific and technological achievements. On completion, the project has obtained six invention patents and 2 Practical New Type patents authorized by relevant national departments. The overall outcome of the project reached the international advanced level, among which the main raw material condensate recovery technology in the production process represents a leading edge in the world. Moreover, products from the project, tested by the National Glass Quality Supervision and Test Center, achieved the same high quality level compared with foreign products of a similar kind..

China Building Materials Federation is a non-profit national industrial organization led by the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission. It conducts investigation and research centering on issues in building material industry and enterprises, participates in industrial planning and industrial standards revision. In this meeting, experts reviewed the appraisal materials, and listened to the work, techonological, economic and social benefits analysis report by the project team from China Glass and Zhejiang University. It is confirmed that China Glass has formed high quality, low-cost, and cleanly-producing CVD techonology and equipment of TCO glass. TCO glass is an important basic material for new energy, which could be found in a variety of applications, including solar thin film cell, heat reflector, and radar shielding protection

The Company's management team said: "The appraisal from the federation proved that our TCO techonology has achieved the same advanced level compared with foreign products, which further strengthened our high techonology position in the country in areas of energy conservation and new energy. Now,the products and technology from the project are being manufactured on a large scale basis in float lines of Zhongbo Bluestar (Linyi) Limited, one of our subsidiaries. The technology was also applied in the Building integrated photovoltaic engineering project of the TV station tower in Guangzhou.

Our next step is to further promote the TCO glass technology within the Group in order to achieve industrial effects. In 2011, our energy-saving and new energy products accounted for 11% of our total production. We will continue this year to increase the percentage of these products with a view to advancing our strategic shift towards becoming an energy-saving and new energy products manufacturer." The Management Team added.

China Glass has been in a leading position in high technology producing environmentally friendly and new energy glass within the national glass industry. As a solar glass manufacturer with the most advanced TCO technology in the country, China Glass has a TCO production base in Linyi Shandong, where a newly built TCO production line (500t/d) was commissioned in May, 2011.
