Glass for Europe Publishes a Brochure on the Added-Value of Automotive Glass

Date: 24 May 2012

Glass for Europe has published a new brochure on the contributions of automotive glass to innovative, green and safe transport solutions for Europe.

This publication presents the many benefits of automotive glass products in providing visibility, safety and security to vehicle's driver and passengers, while offering unlimited design opportunities. It also shed lights on recent innovations in automotive glass technologies and their added-value in providing enhanced acoustic and thermal comfort in the cabin, as well as reducing CO2 emissions through higher fuel efficiency.

This new publication will be used as a back-up material by Glass for Europe in its upcoming meeting with European Commission officials in charge of automotive issues to raise their attention on the benefits of glazing products for automotive applications. In particular, this brochure will support Glass for Europe advocacy efforts to take into account the impact of solar control glass in the EU test procedure to calculate CO2 emissions from Mobile Air Conditioning (MAC) systems, currently under revision.

More specifically, Glass for Europe is carrying out testing to measures CO2 emissions of vehicles equipped with different glazing. These tests reproduce original test conditions in order to have indisputable scientific evidence in favour of solar control glass. The results of these tests will be unveiled in the next issue of EU Glass Focus.

A PDF version of the brochure is available on the Glass for Europe's website. Paper copies can be requested by sending an e-mail to vivien.fourcade@glassforeurope.com.
