Pilkington said that Paolo Scaroni will be stepping down as non-executive deputy chairman and from the board with immediate effect.

Following his appointment to the board of Alliance UniChem on 10 December 2002, Paolo has informed the board that due to increased time commitments he would no longer be able to fulfill the role of non-executive deputy chairman of Pilkington.Sir Nigel Rudd, Chairman of Pilkington, said: "Stuart Chambers and the executive management team are building on this competitive strength and the group is well placed to deliver value despite uncertain market conditions." Pilkington said that Paolo Scaroni will be stepping down as non-executive deputy chairman and from the board with immediate effect.
