Former Eaton V. P. Named AP Technoglass North American Chief Operating Officer

Date: 12 December 2002

Automotive glass and glazing systems supplier AP Technoglass has added Dan Kimmet to its North American management team as COO, according to company president, Hideki Takase.

Along with operational responsibility for AP's U. S., Canadian and Mexican operations, Kimmet will be a member of the Leadership Team and play an active role in Asahi Glass Company's (AP Technoglass' parent) global automotive strategic business unit.

A graduate of The Ohio State University, holding both a Bachelor of Science in Engineering and Masters in Mechanical Engineering, Kimmet held various engineering and operations management positions at the former Aeroquip Corporation. His most recent assignment, prior to joining AP Technoglass, was Vice President, Mobile Operations for Eaton Corporation.

Kimmet's assignment is another in a series of North American and global senior managerial appointments announced recently. According to Jay Strong, President of AGC's Global Automotive Strategic Business Unit, the automotive glass supplier has been adding to its senior ranks to bolster its Total Solutions initiative. "Historically, auto manufacturers depended on a supplier for one component, such as the windshield glass," Strong said. "Now there is the era of modularity. Our customers are looking to us to supply not only installation-ready auto glass, but provide design, engineering, logistics and other value-added support services as well. That requires a skilled, diverse team to meet our customer's needs. We're fortunate that the stewardship of Total Solutions is in the capable hands of Dan Kimmet and his colleagues here at AP."

AP Technoglass Company, an affiliate of Asahi Glass America, manufactures automotive glass and glazing assemblies in Ohio, Kentucky, Canada and Mexico for domestic and export markets. Please visit www.aptechnoglass.com for more information.
