The Western Australia glass manufacturer “Cooling Brothers” opens a new cutting-edge production facility

After over forty years of history, one of Western Australia’s major glass manufacturers, Cooling Brothers, recently opened a new production facility conceived to provide excellence in the flat-glass production sector.

The new facility, located in the district of High Wycombe in Perth, covers an area of 7000 sq m, a big increase compared to the 4000 sq m of the old factory, which was located at Belmont.

For.El. made a decisive contribution to supplying the production plants, with the installation of three different operating lines: - Insulating glass composition line - Arrissing and washing line - Laminated glass composition line These hi-tech automations permit optimising production and cutting the amount of labour required to run the glass-making facility.

The vertical line for the composition of insulating glass produces high energy efficiency glazing, for which demand is increasing on the Australian market as well. “Our line of insulating glass has been designed to surpass the heat efficiency standards required by Australian laws on frames and can also assemble several sheets filled with argon gas” says Paul King, owner of the factory. Plant heights allow putting together large panels, extremely easily and safely and with excellent finish standards thanks to the automation supplied by For.El.

The second line permits vertical arrissing of the glass upstream of the glass tempering process or of the insulating glass composition process, thus eliminating breakages caused by cutting. The high operating speed ensures large production outputs.

The last line to be installed was the laminating line LL2645. This was carefully designed to facilitate the production of special glazing: tempered, low emissive, etched, screen printed and all glasses undergoing special production processes, which this plant is able to manufacture with extreme ease. Max work dimensions are 4500x2600 mm.

Thanks to this For.El. lamination line, the Cooling Brothers glass manufacturing facility has been able to introduce a broad range of laminated-glass products, with a wide assortment of PVB membranes with strongly innovative features that upgrade the rigidity of the glass composition and permit solutions in a broad range of colours for decorative purposes.

During the big opening ceremony last September, with the participation of over three hundred guests including a delegation from Italy representing For.El., the owner Paul King stated: “Our new equipment enables us to be in the front line in the flat-glass sector”. “With the new energy laws and the big possibility that provisions in this sense will be even more restrictive in the future, we feel sure we are ready to satisfy market demand for many years to come”, and continued “with a company designed to cater for the technological requirements of our customers, we look to the future of the glass industry in Western Australia with great confidence”. An ambition that has already taken concrete shape thanks to a reliable technological partner: For.El.
