Glasstec 2002 officially starts today

Some 1,100 exhibitors covering more than 63,000 m2 of net space are opening up dimensions never thought possible years ago, especially in a difficult economic environment such as the current one. Glasstec 2002 is primarily a mirror image of the international glass sector. Messe Düsseldorf is the perfect venue in the heart of Europe, easily accessible to the 50,000 international visitors expected to attend.

Glass machinery and plant construction is the trade fair’s driving force and accounts for a considerable share of investments in the works. The stands of up to 2,500 m2 are attention-getters, highlighting the innovative market opportunities on a global scale.

Glass manufacturers - the most significant being represented at glasstec 2002 - will show the versatility of this ideal material. Glass is so fascinating because apart from having a decorative and design function, it embodies the energy that influences each and every one of us.

Glass applications, including visionary forms of expression, have been at the heart of the special presentation “glass technology live” which premiered in 1996. International architecture projects and designs of projects under construction are showcased by way of drawings, photos and architectural models or 1:1 façade sections. Up close and personal, visitors can see how cooperation among façade builders, the glass industry and architects has led to new solutions and innovative buildings with a special type of façade.

The symposium, which will take place for the entire duration of the fair, is bannered “Transparency as aesthetic architectural concept”. It will open on the first day of glasstec 2002 on 28 October at 10.30 a.m. in the special presentation’s area, Halls 10/11. EuroWindoor, the Federal Association of German Glazing Guilds (BIV), the Window Technology Institute, the VDMA’s German glass machinery and plant division, the German Glass Technical Institute (DGG) and the Federal Association of Young Glaziers and Windowmakers are contributing to the symposium. The glazier’s trade is playing a special role, perfectly bridging the gap between theory and practice on one side and bulk sellers and partners in skilled trade on the other side.

Architects, designers and representatives of the glass industry will shape the programme on three afternoons. Their sessions will take up and elaborate on topics of the special presentation. Industry experts and architects in particular will find a unique forum to share experiences and talk shop at the symposium during glasstec 2002 in Düsseldorf.

GlassOnWeb.com will be present at Glasstec with its own stand located in Hall 10, Stand H66.

We will demonstrate the GlassOnWeb.com portal, as well as its navigation and advertising possibilities. We look forward to showing you our new services, such as the Directory, Companies Info pages, On-line Translator, and a completely restructured News section. We are convinced that your feedback and requests will help us improve our services.

As one of the leading web portals in the glass industry we seek to offer excellent solutions to your present or future needs.

Hope to see you at our stand!
