Another term at the Helm of the Italian glass Industry

After an overwhelmingly affirmative vote at the Gimav General Meeting, Cinzia Schiatti to head the Italian Association of Glass Processing Machinery and Accessories Suppliers for the third term.

At the helm of Gimav over the past four years, Cinzia Schiatti has successfully tided the Association during the difficult years of the global meltdown, by implementing effective strategies to promote Italian-made production in markets with a high potential for Italian glass technology. This will be the starting point for her third mandate, confirmed the newly-elected chairperson: “The main goal of the association is to increase the visibility of producers on the global market by offsetting competition from other countries. For this very reason Gimav is present at the topmost international exhibitions, where it organizes and coordinates the participation of member companies. The association is also working on standards, and is constantly in contact with Italian and overseas government authorities, as well as on communications, by promptly updating all its members on all the latest news for the sector. Over the coming years we will continue to work in these two areas, which are aimed at promoting the quality of Italian products”.

After her language studies overseas and 28 years spent working as the sales manager in the company her grandfather Elia Schiatti founded to build flat glass processing machinery, Cinzia Schiatti was elected chairman of Gimav in 2008, one of the most prestigious positions in the Italian glass industry.

At the head of the overseas trade department in the family business, she has spent most of her business life taking part in leading international appointments liaising with the players in the industry, and overseeing an extensive network of agents and representatives on leading overseas markets in Europe, United States, China, Russia, as well as Brazil, India and North Africa.

Drawing on this experience during her previous terms in office, Cinzia Schiatti has been successful in promoting Italian market presence across the world through Gimav, by forging the relations that are a must-have for a worldwide market presence. The Italian sector of glass-working machinery is highly export-oriented: Italian-designed and built machinery is well-known and recognized across the five continents for its quality production. Gimav groups about 70% of Italian companies from the sector, where revenues account for 80% of the turnover and 77% of total exports by Italian producers from the glass industry.
