As part of an ongoing terminal renovation project at the St. Petersburg-Clearwater International Airport, glass artist Guy Kemper will on Friday create a 46-foot long, six-foot high blown glass wall in the airport’s terminal.

The project’s working title, “Sunshine Beach,” reflects the renovated airport’s new tropical theme. The wall will be the airport’s terminal’s signature entrance and will separate passengers’ entry and a secured boarding area.

The installation is funded primarily through the county’s public art and design program, a release said.

The Pinellas County Cultural Affairs Public Art Airport Project Selection Committee, in partnership with St. Petersburg-Clearwater International Airport, selected Kemper from 45 international glass artists.

Kemper’s portfolio includes works at the Orlando International Airport, Baltimore Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport, O'Hare International Airport in Chicago, Mount Baker Station in Seattle and the Catholic Memorial at Ground Zero at St. Joseph's Chapel in New York City.
