Worldwide leading glass manufacturer and processor, Guardian Industries, have chosen Ashton Industrial's fully automated seaming and batching to enhance their new processing plant in Rexdale, Ontario.

The customised layout incorporates high speed seaming of totally random glass sizes direct from cutting and breakout.During the seaming process Ashton's unique Seek&Find controls automatically locate the glass edges and register their dimensions.

Ashton's PLC then calculates the glass sizes compared to the furnace conveyor bed area, and builds multiple-row batches for tempering. These batches pass through an Ashton HWPRO high perfomance washer dryer which adjusts its speed and thickness settings according to signals received from the downstream furnace. Human handling is completely eliminated.

At no point is there contact to the upper glass surface. Coated glass remains totally untouched.

Other features of the Ashton supply include laser marking of individual lites and an ancillary manual batching conveyor for pre-processed glass which links into the automatic line on demand.
