The new boot offers a unique solution combining innovative cut resistant and pierce resistant materials with Goliath’s unique DDR technology. Each year the UK manufactures a massive 3.7 million tonnes of glass indicating the level of associated personal injury risks in the workplace. Now the Goliath Glassworker boot is available to protect the wearer with a comfortable and durable solution.The entire upper of the boot is protected with a special lining that performs at least 3 times better than the standard requirement in both cut resistance and puncture resistance tests.This flexible material has an extremely high tear and tensile strength to withstand instances of glass penetration and lacerations. A steel midsole is also used as a barrier against glass penetration under foot.
Finally, the Glassworker boot boasts Goliath’s unique injected Dual Density Rubber (DDR) sole for the ultimate durability and comfort in hazardous working conditions. Heat resistant to 300°C, this specialist sole unit also has excellent slip resistance properties, surpassing the latest European standard SRC. Made of two distinct layers, the DDR sole has a durable nitrile rubber outer skin helping to prevent nicks and cuts, then a softer rubber mid-layer to offer excellent shock absorption for superb all day comfort.
After successful trials with numerous glass manufacturers, the Glassworker boot will be launched and made commercially available from early May 2009. Further niche product developments will also be brought out later in the year, strengthening Goliath’s reputation for specialist solutions.
