This year’s 75th Conference on Glass Problems was held at the Greater Columbus Convention Centre in Columbus, Ohio, between the 3rd-6th November.

The conference grew in attendance for the fifth year running, and welcomed 438 attendees.

The event was organised by the Glass Manufacturing Industry Council (GMIC) in collaboration with Alfred University. Sessions throughout the four day event included ‘Fundamentals of batch and furnace operations’; ‘Glass melting’; ‘Energy and environmental’; ‘Refractories’; and the ‘Hot sensors’ symposium.

The event also included a joint energy efficiency symposium hosted by GMIC and EPA Energy Star, a table-top exhibition area, and the chance for students to visit the nearby Owens Corning plant in Ohio, reputedly the world’s largest fiberglass insulation plant.
