Glass Industry Teams-up With MRW

British Glass has teamed-up with MRW to launch a series of regional conferences designed to create better understanding of the issues facing glass recycling.

Titled ‘The Challenge for Glass Recycling’, the series of conferences begins on 15 May in Warrington and will include speakers from Wrap, LARAC, Friends of the Earth, Rethink Rubbish and the glass packaging industry.The conferences, which are free of charge are being promoted by MRW and organised by British Glass.As well as stand alone regional events in the North West, Scotland, North East, South West and Yorkshire; there will be events at the Recycling & Waste Management Exhibition and the LARAC Conference.

David Workman, director general of British Glass said: “This is a crucial time for glass recycling, with daunting new recycling targets, alternative uses for recycled glass and complex, sometimes contradictory legislation.”

“These conferences are designed to help build better understanding between the glass recycling industry and local authorities to help ensure we can all work together to realise the full potential and environmental benefit of glass recycling.”

Jane Rayner, MRW editor said: “I’m sure the conferences will make a major contribution to help improve our readers’ understanding of some of the emerging issues facing glass recycling.”
