Cardinal Glass Industries will build a 220,000-square-foot plant in Roanoke County to manufacture insulating glass, creating 200 jobs, Gov.

Mark Warner announced Wednesday.

The $23.9 million plant will rise in the town of Vinton, and could be expanded by 102,000 feet within five years. The expansion would add 100 jobs.

Cardinal Glass, based in Minnesota, is a major supplier to Integrity Windows, which announced a new plant location in Roanoke Valley in February. The plant is under construction.

In a statement, Cardinal Glass President and CEO Roger O'Shaughnessy said the Vinton plant will "allow us to be closer to our customers" and credited state and local officials for influencing the decision to build its first Virginia plant.

Warner said Virginia competed with North Carolina for the Cardinal plant.
