Glass bottles will be crushed and used in road construction, thereby reducing the amount of glass that needs recycling and the requirment of natural resources, Minister Jesmond Mugliett announced.
While giving an overview of how the technique works together with Minister for Rural Affairs and the Environment George Pullicino in Labour Avenue, Naxxar, Minister Mugliett explained that the glass bottles will be crushed into grit-like pieces and mixed into the materials used for the road bedding.
Besides making use of material that is thrown away as waste on a daily basis, the technique also reduces the demand for natural material that would have to be used in road construction, Minister Mugliett said.
