Lifting solutions specialists GGR Group are introducing a new series of compact and lightweight glazing robots to their wide range of lifting and handling equipment.

The Oscar 600, Oscar 600 Offroad and Oscar 1000 models are now available to hire and purchase from GGR.

Adding to their already successful Geko glazing robot range, GGR’s new Oscar machines offer a higher lifting capacity for handling heavier glazing panels, whilst maintaining minimal dimensions for working in confined spaces or where access is restricted.

The name “Oscar” is an acronym for “Optimum Strength Compact Articulated Robot” and all three machines include dual circuit vacuum lifting technology. The precise steering wheel controls are ideal for manoeuvring around congested sites and the telescopic lifting arm can lift materials stored on shelves thanks to its articulated joint.

The Oscar 600 glazing robot offers 600kg of lifting power with just a 730mm wide chassis which has folding outriggers for providing extra stability if required. The Offroad version of this machine features all terrain tyres and front wheel drive which makes it perfect for use on outdoor sites with bad ground conditions.

The Oscar 600 has already been hired out for reglazing strategy projects and challenging internal glazing jobs at locations such as Edgbaston Cricket Ground, where the robotic lifter successfully replaced a cracked glass unit in one of the venue’s conference rooms.

The Oscar 1000, the highest capacity glazing robot in GGR’s range, can lift, tilt and rotate glass loads up to 1000kg for inside-out installation on sites where scaffolding or craneage is impossible. Its telescopic lifting arm has a hydraulically powered 180° tilt function for handling horizontal loads and a 360° rotating robotic head for placing units with precision. GGR Group CEO Graeme Riley comments, “With their added lifting power, the Oscar robots are a great addition to our already popular glazing robot selection. Now we can offer a unique lifting solution for those customers working with heavier glass units in awkward lifting locations where inside-out glazing wasn’t possible before.”
