These events will case study how manufacturers have tackled the CE marking challenge; the complication with CE marking is that there are numerous routes for compliance and these seminars aim to overcome that problem.Who should attend these events? Any GGF Member or non-member company that manufacturers a product covered by a harmonised European Standard – particularly glass processors, Insulating Glass Unit Manufacturers and Window and Door fabricators should send a technical manager/person to these events, to find out what needs to be done to comply and to clarify any questions about this incoming legislation. The ultimate aim of the seminars is to ensure companies comply with the Construction Products Regulation and operating legally from 1st July 2013 when CE Marking becomes mandatory. Companies who manufacture a product covered by a harmonised European Standard will need to make a Declaration of Performance and CE Mark their products when it becomes law. Failure to comply could result in a prosecution and if found guilty, the companies face a fine and/or a potential custodial sentence. Prosecutions for other Directives have resulted in fines of £5K per offence and 6 months jail for the company directors. So this new legislation it has to be taken seriously.”
These seminars will cover distinct product areas and will guide companies on the route to compliance with a “to do list” of actions to ensure they are ready for 1st
July 2013. Delegates will also have the opportunity to use the GGF templates for the process such as Factory Production Control, Declarations of Performance etc.
You should attend one of these seminars if your business involves one of the following:
•Process glass e.g. toughening, heat soaking etc.
•Manufacture insulating glass units
•Fabricate finished windows and doorsets (frames and glass supplied from a single source)
•Install windows and doorsets but source the frames and IGU’s from different suppliers
If you are a fabricator who sells unglazed frames you cannot CE mark your product however, you may wish to attend a seminar to glean the necessary information to explain to your clients what they will need to do to comply with CPR.
