GANA Announces Thomsen as BEC Conference Keynote

The Glass Association of North America (GANA) announced that Scott Thomsen, president of the Global Flat Glass Group for Guardian Industries Corp., will serve as the keynote speaker for its Building Envelope Contractors (BEC) Conference in Las Vegas in March.

The event is scheduled for March 17-19, 2013, at the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.“We are thrilled to have Scott as our keynote,” says Brian Pitman, GANA director of marketing and communications. “Scott is a dynamic speaker who has been able to capture the essence of the industry in his presentations to our attendees in a way that is both compelling and inspiring.”Thomsen, who oversees the worldwide operations of Guardian’s float glass manufacturing, marketing, distribution and product development, will provide an assessment of the glass and glazing industry during the event.“GANA’s BEC Conference is the industry’s primary networking event held annually for glazing contractors and suppliers,” adds Bill Yanek, GANA executive vice president. “Scott Thomsen is an integral voice of the industry that earns immediate respect. I’m certain that his vision of the current state of the glass and glazing industry will attract attendees looking to see what the future for Guardian and the entire industry holds.”Before being named president in 2011, Thomsen was group vice president of Guardian’s North American flat glass operations and chief technology officer for the company’s Science & Technology Center based in Carleton, Mich.Prior to joining Guardian in 1999, Thomsen was vice president of engineering and fabrication operations at Optical Imaging Systems Inc. He also held engineering, management and research and development positions at Honeywell Space and Aviation and GM-Hughes Electronics.
