Galwegians are among leading glass recyclers in Ireland

Galwegians are among the top recyclers of glass in Ireland with half a million bottles and jars brought to bring banks in the city and county during the first eight months of the year.

According to a survey conducted by Rehab Recycling for Repak National Recycling Week, Galway now ranks third in the glass recycling league table after Leitrim and Cork.More than 2,301 tonnes of glass waste, the equivalent of 7,478,000 individual bottles and jars were brought to bring banks in the county for the first eight months of the year.This marks an increase of 15 per cent. The glass bank at Westside took the most glass with 191 tonnes of glass being deposited at the site.
