FT: Owens-Illinois standardizes on Polycom video communications equipment

Polycom, a worldwide leader in the convergence of interactive voice, video and data communications, announced that Owens-Illinois , the leading manufacturer of glass and plastics packaging products, with more than 140 locations around the world, is standardizing on Polycom's ViewStation(TM) products for its worldwide video communication needs.Owens-Illinois uses videoconferencing to connect employees in North America, South America, Asia, Europe and Australia, and for communicating with partners and customers dispersed around the globe.

The company has deployed Polycom's ViewStation worldwide. The North America Glass Containers unit estimates it saved $250,000 in travel costs and lost productivity in 2001.
