Glass Plant Works 15, located on South Peach Ave. in Fresno, will be one of only two locations where this newest PPG glass is produced; the other is in Carlisle, Penn. Rob Struble, business communications manager at PPG, said there was a reason that the Fresno plant was chosen.
“Many of our customers are on the West Coast,” Struble said. “We are not new in Fresno. This goes back decades.”
The Fresno plant has been part of PPG since 1967, and one of the primary benefits of making the new solar glass here is that it will result in reduced delivery times, with many orders throughout California and the Southwest being made the next day. This is a considerable improvement over the three to four days that it would generally take to ship the glass from the East Coast, and will allow shipments to customers in Asia to be made much quicker as well.
