Freeglass Joint Venture Completely Acquired By Saint-Gobain Sekurit Deutschland

The joint venture between Saint-Gobain Sekurit Deutschland Beteiligungen GmbH and Schefenacker German HoldCo GmbH has been acquired to 100% of Saint-Gobain Sekurit. freeglass GmbH & Co.

KG has 130 employees and generates a sales volume of around 27 mill. Euro.



With automobile windows made of plastic, freeglass opens up completely new perspectives for automobile designers and car-makers. The company became well-known for its new development of a fixed plastic window for the Smart ForTwo made of scratch-resistant coated polycarbonate, and is today the world market leader for plastic windows.



"freeglass will increasingly supplement our comprehensive product programme and I am confident that we still will develop many more unique designer plastic windows for our customers", said Norbert Bützler, Managing Director of Saint-Gobain Sekurit Deutschland, commenting on the acquisition of the company.



The transaction is still subject to the consent of the responsible competition authorities.
