When it comes to close calls, it doesn't get much closer than this. A man was driving his car near Rush and Illinois streets in the Loop around 7 a.m.
Monday when, without warning, a piece of glass fell out of an office building from 25 stories up, smashing right on top of the man's car.
The impact shattered the sunroof and rear window of the car, but the driver escaped without injury.
Craig Morris, who saw the whole thing on his way to work, told NBC5 that he couldn't believe no one was hurt.
"It was just amazing that the gentleman didn't get hurt," Morris said.
"Boom, it hit the car," he said in describing the event.
The mess was cleaned up following the accident and there were no reports of any streets being closed.
