The success of the first installation of the Emhart Glass 340 Forehearth in 2002 attracted world-wide interest and led to the adoption of the system by many of the world’s prominent glass container manufacturers.

Emhart Glass acknowledges that it is difficult to capitalise on this success, maintain the momentum and guarantee the future of the new forehearth product range within what is essentially a machine dominated business. .

To ensure the continued success of the 340 and other Emhart Glass forehearth and distributor products, and to provide a higher level of technical support to both existing and potential customers, the Emhart Glass forehearth business has been transferred to the leading furnace designer, Sorg.

Effective from 1st July 2006, Emhart Glass will transfer all forehearth, distributor and associated subsystem technology to Sorg. From this date, although Emhart Glass will continue to promote the forehearth products through the Emhart Glass sales offices, Sorg will assume all responsibility for Emhart Glass forehearths systems from quotation through to commissioning and after sales service. Within Sorg, sales of the Emhart Glass product range and customer support will be led by John McMinn.

With this agreement, existing and future users of Emhart glass forehearths will benefit from a more appropriate company infrastructure and from access to a wider range of forehearth products and technologies. The agreement will also ensure the future of existing Emhart Glass forehearth products and provide continuity of supply to existing customers.
