Edwards’ vacuum pumps can provide coating manufacturers with high quality, reliable, cost effective solutions with reduced environmental impact.

Edwards is demonstrating a range of its oil sealed and dry pumping technology suitable for all industrial coating applications at ICCG in Dresden, Germany.  The new ES range of single stage oil sealed rotary vane pumps is being introduced to the German market for the first time at ICCG.

The ES is a flexible vacuum solution providing highly stable vacuum performance, which makes it ideal for coating applications.  Thanks to the optimised oil return system, there are none of the pressure fluctuations that are often seen in single stage pumps improving product quality and giving consistent process results. The pump mechanism on the new ES pump has been refined to produce a better quality of vacuum.  The pumping speed is maintained even at lower pressure, extending the operating pressure range.

The new pump is designed to be used in a wide range of industrial applications, including coating applications, heat treatment and drying. The ES can be used individually or with mechanical booster pumps to increase both performance and ultimate vacuum.

Edwards is also highlighting its recently launched STP-iXA4506, a large- capacity turbomolecular pump (TMP), designed to deliver significant savings for cost-sensitive manufacturers of coated glass, flat planel displays and solar panels. The pump’s design maximises the allowable gas throughput and hence minimises the number of pumps required for these high flow processes.  The absence of mechanical bearings practically eliminates the cost of periodic maintenance.

Franck Merieux, Market Sector Manager at Edwards, commented, “Edwards is proud to be bringing our two newest pumps to ICCG this year. They have further enhanced the customised vacuum solutions we can provide – bringing cost effective, environmentally friendly benefits to any coating application.”

Edwards has years of in-depth industry experience, and visitors to the booth will be able to benefit from this by meeting with applications experts and discussing which pumps and systems offer the best solution for their process requirements, whether oil sealed or dry technology.  The 10th ICCG  (International Conference on Coatings on Glass and Plastics) 22 – 26 June, 2014 in Dresden, Germany, focusses on bringing together participants from science and industry active in the field of large-area coatings on glass and plastics globally.
