Edgetech, the only dedicated manufacturer of Warm Edge Technology in the UK, is urging the industry to get behind the GGF's campaign to get a window scrappage system introduced by government.

The Glass and Glazing Federation (GGF) has petitioned the government to introduce a scheme whereby householders are encouraged to scrap their old poorly insulated windows in return for a £1000 grant towards the installation of more energy efficient products. The petition is now online at http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/windowscrappage

"Edgetech is backing this important petition because we can see the potential the system would offer our industry," says Andy Jones, Edgetech Managing Director. "If such a scheme was introduced, window manufacturers, suppliers and installers would all benefit from increased sales; consumers would obviously benefit by saving £1000, but they would also be able to enjoy the long term benefits of reduced fuel bills. The government also has something to gain from the scheme because it will help reduce emissions from existing housing stock. So it's a win-win initiative that as an industry we should do everything in our power to back. Edgetech has e-mailed a link to its 7500+ database to make it even easier for people to put their name to this important petition. We hope other manufacturers will do the same to ensure the GGF gets all the backing it needs to get this petition the official consideration it deserves."
