Recently, employees from Lauren International’s family of businesses and ProVia Door of Sugarcreek, Ohio, combined their resources to help build a new home for one local family.
Companies donate windows and labor to give local family a new home
Construction for the Guernsey County home began in September 2008. Organized by Edgetech’s product manager Joe Erb, volunteers from Edgetech I.G., Lauren Manufacturing and LMI donated their time and efforts to the project. Additionally, Edgetech worked with ProVia Door to donate the ten insulating glass windows used in the home. All of the windows included Edgetech’s flagship product Super Spacer® and were protected using the Eco Coat® Glass Protection System.
“ProVia was more than happy to assist with donation for this worthy cause,” Erb said. “The company is highly dedicated to giving back to the community. We thoroughly enjoyed working with them to furnish the Habitat home with high-performance, energy efficient windows.”
Kathy Werner, Habitat for Humanity treasurer and coordinator said, “We have a really good group that works well together, which is what it takes to keep the project moving.” The Guernsey County home will be complete in early spring 2009.
Erb would like to continue finding ways for Lauren International employees to volunteer with Habitat for Humanity and other community organizations.
“Becoming part of the community through volunteering efforts to organizations like Habitat helps us give back,” Erb said. “It provides a great opportunity to build stronger relationships within our community and our Lauren International family of companies. Participating in this Habitat project was an easy decision for our group, and we are still enjoying the experience.”
