Water and glass are synonymous with lightness, transparency and elegance. When the two meet, however, pristine clarity is soon consigned to the past.

If left uncoated, even the most modern float glass is not impervious to minor surface imperfections and scratches.  Limescale and dirt settle over time, causing the glass to take on a dull sheen. That’s why new solutions are needed wherever glass is exposed to moisture. With a DURACLEAR coating, the glass surface stays smooth and retains its transparent brilliance for many years. The extremely durable seal protects against glass corrosion and the effects of ageing.

The smooth surface of the DURACLEAR coating ensures transparent brilliance for many years.

The DURACLEAR coating is applied using vacuum magnetron sputtering technology, permanently bonding the ultra-thin coating to the base glass. This makes the glass resistant to chemical, thermal and mechanical influences. DURACLEAR takes full advantage of these properties: with its permanently smooth surface, the coating ensures maximum corrosion resistance, a long lifetime and enduring brilliance for the speciality glass.

DURACLEAR is user-friendly from the word go: no special machines or cleaning are necessary to finish the glass. And neither limescale, cleaning agents, soap residues nor dirt particles can settle where there are no dimples, microcracks or surface imperfections. Caring for the glass is therefore extremely easy: commercial cleaners are entirely sufficient.

Compared to conventional float glass, DURACLEAR features a lastingly smooth surface which prevents the ingress of dirt and limescale.

DURACLEAR can be used anywhere glass is exposed to water. In interiors, this includes shower cubicles, panelling and partition walls in wet rooms, or kitchen backsplashes. The maximum glass area of 20 m2 also opens up large-scale applications such as in swimming pools and spa areas. Its resistance to corrosion is also an advantage when used outside. The smooth surface makes it harder for contamination to collect and settle, while the coating prevents the glass from showing signs of ageing. DURACLEAR is ideal for everything from traditional glass façades via roofed terraces and conservatories to canopies. The coating is so thin that it can even be used for bent glass: curved partition walls, circular shower cubicles and arched roofing are all possible – the options for design and functionality are practically endless.

DURACLEAR is produced on EUROFLOAT as standard. Stringent production standards ensure the high quality and colour stability of the base glass. Coated with DURACLEAR, the glass is available in thicknesses of 3 to 12 mm and as panels measuring 3,210 mm width by 6,000 mm length. Even greater transparency and brilliance can be achieved by using the product together with the colour-neutral EUROWHITE NG base glass, whose reduced iron oxide content eliminates the light greenness of conventional float glass. But whether it’s produced on EUROFLOAT or EUROWHITE NG, DURACLEAR does not affect the photometric properties of the glass; in addition, the finished glass can be processed to make heat-strengthened glass, laminated safety glass, tempered safety glass, insulating glass and screen-printed glass. Boreholes and edging are also no problem.

EUROGLAS – partnership in glass.

EUROGLAS was created in 1993 as an association of five independent medium-sized glass processing companies and is now one of Europe’s leading glass producing and processing companies. The parent company, Glas Trösch, is based in Switzerland. The four EUROGLAS facilities in Haldensleben (D), Osterweddingen (D), Hombourg (F) and Ujazd (PL) produce float glass, extra-white glass for solar applications, laminated safety glass and coated glass for applications in the area of thermal and sun protection and semi-finished products for the thin-film photovoltaic industry.
