DuPont sites around the world found special ways to honor the first anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks.

Here is a look at a couple of the tributes: Old Hickory, Tennessee: Employees at the site honored the heroes and victims of September 11 by wearing ribbons, observing a moment of silence and by distributing 600 U.S. flags to DuPont-Hadley Middle School students, teachers, community leaders, members of the local police and fire departments and parents.Several DuPont employees attended a program in DuPont Hadley's school gym, handing out flags and remembering those who lost their lives, as well as honoring those who saved other's lives a year ago. The program included a number of speeches by local community and business leaders.

One of the more memorable moments at the event occurred when DuPont Human Resources Manager Ron Bergthold asked all 540 students to look at the U.S. flags they had been given and to remember what the flag represents.

DuPont employees also helped judge a door decoration contest and essay competition at the school.
