During his recent visit to Seoul, Korea, DuPont Executive Vice President John Hodgson presented the first-ever DuPont Science & Technology Award in Korea to Kuk-sun Hong of Seoul National University, who conducts cutting-edge research in the area of material science and engineering.

Last year, DuPont Korea announced it would give the DuPont Science & Technology Award annually to honor a local scientist for outstanding achievements in chemical science and engineering, material science and engineering, or biochemical science and engineering. A panel of renowned scholars and experts organized by the Korea Academy of Science and Technology selects the winner, who receives USD 15,000.

Dr. Hong was recognized for his outstanding research into new technology for components used in electronic information telecommunications. "I am very honored to receive this meaningful award from DuPont," he said. "With its 200-year tradition of scientific innovation, I know the company will continue to offer good products and services that make a difference in people's lives."

DuPont Korea Country Manager Nigel Bidden said: "With this award, we hope we will be able to contribute to the development of science and technology in Korea."
