DuPont, Conicet Award Low Cost Solar Innovation

DuPont Argentina and Conicet, the National Council of Scientific and Technical Research in Argentina, recently announced the recipient of the 2009 Support Program for Scientific and Technological Research and Development.

In its seventh year, the program awarded $25,000 to Luis Alberto Juanicó and his team for a project the scientists designed to reduce the use of fossil fuels. They developed an innovative, low-cost solar roof with a sustainable heating and cooling system that offers practical, innovative advantages.  Focusing on the principle of sustainability, the winning team developed a solar roof that: Costs about the same as conventional roofs Assures excellent thermal quality Satisfies winter and summer heating and refrigeration needs  “Widespread use of this innovation that relies on an alternative energy resource will significantly reduce use of fossil fuels,” said Juan Vaquer, president - DuPont Argentina. “We applaud this great contribution to environmental sustainability.” Members of the DuPont Argentina team, the Conicet council and representatives of the government participated in the ceremony held at National Academy of Physics, Exacts and Naturals Sciences.They applauded the work of the winners along with members of the scientific community, media and the jurors in charge of the selection.
