Ruth McKenzie and Retha Hubbard of LaPlace have loaned their collection to the library. Of special interest are the children's tea sets that are featured in the children's department. Also on view are complete place setting of five different patterns of glassware.
Collecting Depression glass has grown through the years as time gets farther away from the 1930's through 1950's when most of the glass was produced.
The once very inexpensive ware is becoming popular and valuable as a collectible and for those who wish to use the items in their homes.
Both McKenzie and Hubbard are members of the Crescent City Depression Glass Society of New Orleans. This display also will be presented March 8-9 at the society's annual show at the St. Bernard Parish Cultural Center in Chalmette.
