David Jaffe Named General Counsel For Guardian Industries

Guardian Industries Corp. has announced the appointment of attorney David Jaffe as its General Counsel, responsible for all worldwide legal matters.

He also was named Secretary of the corporation.



Jaffe joined Guardian in 1990 and has held a variety of legal positions over the past 17 years. He lived and worked in Luxembourg and served as General Counsel of Guardian Europe, S.A. (1996-2000) and was named Associate General Counsel for Guardian Industries in 2000. In this role, he has overseen Guardian's international, merger and acquisition and corporate legal work. Throughout his Guardian career, Jaffe has been closely associated with Guardian's corporate and international development activities including negotiating and providing continuous legal advice for the company's joint ventures around the world.



“David is a skilled and experienced lawyer and negotiator who has already made great contributions to Guardian’s growth and we are very pleased to name him as our General Counsel,” said Executive Vice President Ralph Gerson. “We are confident that he has the leadership abilities to oversee all legal aspects of Guardian’s continued growth.”



Prior to joining Guardian, Jaffe was a partner at the Detroit-based law firm of Honigman Miller Schwartz and Cohn. From 1982-83, he served as a law clerk to Justice William H. Rehnquist at the Supreme Court of the United States. Jaffe attended the The University of Chicago Law School where he received his J.D. with honors, and served as a research assistant to former Attorney General Edward H. Levi.



At Guardian, Jaffe succeeds Robert Gorlin who has served as General Counsel for more than 18 years, and remains a vice president and senior advisor.



Jaffe serves on the boards of Music Hall Center for the Performing Arts, JVS and The Roeper School, and on the National Executive Council of the American Jewish Committee.



Jaffe, his wife Erica Peresman and daughters Adela and Mara, live in Birmingham.
