The extension of the Vienna Subway line U1 is well under way and WENNA delivers curved glass for 4 brand new underground stations.

The 600 million Euro construction project adds another 4,6 km to the city's underground transit system as well as 5 new state of-the-art stations from Troststraße to Oberlaa. After completion it will be the longest underground line in Vienna. The new design for the stations comes from the "Architektengruppe U-Bahn" and is based on the original architecture from the 1970's developed by the same group of architects.

WENNA provides curved glass for 4 of the 5 new stations. The curved laminated safety glass [STADIP CONTOUR with screen-prints for bird protection and ceramic frits for vision control] plays an inherent role in the minimalistic and functional architecture of the station buildings. The installation has already started in autumn 2015 and will be finished by the end of 2016. We are proud to deliver the glass for these important landmarks in Vienna which will be part of the city's appearance and public space for generations to come.
