CRL-U.S. Aluminum was pleased to welcome University of Florida School of Architecture students and staff for a tour of its ISO 9001:2008 certified manufacturing facilities.

The purpose of the tour was to discuss building envelope manufacturing processes and best practices to educate participants in an open forum setting.

The tour highlighted CRL-U.S. Aluminum’s fabrication and distribution efficiencies, and granted the 19 graduate student participants AIA CES Continuing Education credits.

CRL product and design specialists were also on hand to provide technical support and insight into current application advancements.

Topics discussed included manufacturing best practices, trends in design and function, thermal performance, water management, and code compliance.

“We are interested in introducing students to a wide range of fabrication methods so they can develop greater facility with fabrication and design thinking that is informed by making,” said University of Florida School of Architecture Associate Professor Bradley Walters.

“CRL-U.S. Aluminum’s manufacturing capabilities and expertise are well-known so they were the ideal venue to host our plant tour.”
